Learn to Lead Trad Camp

The craft of traditional rock climbing and improvising your own anchors opens up rock climbing and alpinism to its full potential. The subject can feel like a lot to take on safely without a mentor. Finding a mentor to show you the correct methods and techniques can also be cumbersome and difficult to align.

Our unique two-day camp is designed for sport or gym climbers, to gain experience with the art of placing traditional climbing protection, improvising and inspecting anchors, and perform as a solid second to your partner who is a traditional lead climber. We will introduce you to the lead sequence and belays as well as how to progress with your partner on traditionally protected climbs. This will leave you with the confidence to practice becoming a traditional leader of your own with your partner.

In our experience there is nothing like hands-on learning with trained professionals to lead you through the process into application. We have built this course out of hundreds of hours of experience teaching and have refined our delivery of these skills with hands-on learning, with dedicated time to apply these techniques while climbing.

The Mountain Bureau’s Guides will work with you to determine where you are at in your climbing journey and will attempt to tailor lessons to meet your needs. Our goal is to help you progress while having a lot of fun along the way.
